Day 18 Wednesday 7-3

Wildwatch, back in action

5:30 was soooo early!!!! We actually was able to see the sun rise as we drove into Isle de Bois.  There was a cool front that day so weren't affected by the heat so much.

Had to make a homemade cup
holder for the iced coffee,  mmmm delicious

The first objective was to redeploy our DVR system that is now programmed to only record when there is motion.  Also, set the monitor up for temperature reads so that we are keeping records of how hot the system is getting each day.

Then we split into teams to divide and conquer.  The goal was to move one of our burrow cameras to a deer path.  This consisted of switching the original wiring that came with the Swann system to a 200ft. BNC extension.
We ended crossing over a graveled road, so Bryan suggested we place a  piece of angle iron  to protect the wires from  tires.

In the mean time, the other team spray painted the "Pelican" case and the burrows to blend them in more with nature.

We are so girlie, we all exclaimed how pretty it looked after it was finished being painted.

On another note................

The morning brought out some of the most beautiful essence of being with nature : )

Our final mission was to finalize the location for our "off grid" set up.  We decided to move the system close by the bird house to receive sufficient sunlight

It was now time to pack up, seal the box and continue the rest of our day...... it was only 8am!!!!!!

FYI, Chelsea was poked !!!
And almost ran into a spider, smh!  I tell you, mother nature can really kick your butt....

Safety first! Our lovely protection for the exacto  knife.

The rest of our afternoon consisted of us gathering the materials to build our "shade structure" that will simultaneously hold our solar panels as well.

soo random, couldn't understand why the flamingo was so interested in the plants....ijs ; )

Well, since we are experimenting with a monitoring system.... lets monitor ourselves.  Smile! You're on candid camera!

Our most prized possession...MUST go EVERYWHERE with you...... our solar panel needed a bathroom  break

Time to build!!!!!

our little helper.....gotta love him!

Fearless darling!!!!!

Go Lori!!!!

The angle irons were a better choice (thanks Dr. Acevedo!)  It allowed us to make adjustments as we went along.  Here we are bolting down all the connections

Girl Power!!!!!!

Of course we had to let our "expert" take a chance at the power tool

Everybody clear!!!!!

Jennifer taking a stab at it, who said women can't build??????????

All in all, we had a very long and productive day.  Great end to the start of a much needed vacay....

Happy 4th Everyone!!!!1
